To say that Junmyeon was nervous would be an understatement. Just the other day Junmyeon asked Kyungnyeon, the pretty girl from his Chemistry class to watch a movie, to the catcalls of his friends and classmates. The appointed date was today, and Junmyeon was an hour early at the cinema. He's also pacing in front of the ticket booth, earning him glares and later, pitiful sighs from the lady at the ticket booth.
Forty five minutes later, Kyungnyeon enters the cinema and looks surprised when she sees Junmyeon. "Whoa, you're early. How long have you been waiting? I'm sorry!"
Junmyeon smiles at Kyungnyeon and replies, "It's alright, I just arrived as well." The lady at the ticket counter rolls her eyes at Junmyeon's blatant lie.
"My friend Sehuna told me you'd probably be an hour early and I didn't believe her. Wow, you two must be so close!"
Junmyeon wanted to tell her about how Sehuna would always ambush him for information about Huang Zitao, the exchange student who somehow constantly hangs out with Junmyeon, but decides against it. Kyungnyeon might not be too impressed with his choice of friends, thereby blowing whatever chance he might have had with the girl.
The movie they picked to watch, Carrie, was enjoyable, although Junmyeon wasn't particularly proud of the moment he shrieked like a girl during one of the startling moments. Kyungnyeon had laughed at him, and he wanted to endure more mortification if it meant the she would smile at him like that again.
They stop for a jumbo banana split which they shared together. Frankly, Junmyeon didn't want to eat banana splits since it was fall and the weather was getting colder and colder but Kyungnyeon just definitely had a way to make him give in.
Kyungnyeon was happily spooning her ice cream when she suddenly asked, "Junmyeon, you like me right?"
Junmyeon felt fruit going down his windpipe as he choked upon hearing Kyungnyeon's question. "W-what?"
"Oh," Kyungnyeon looked surprised, then crestfallen, "do you like someone else? It's Sehuna, right? Did you ask me here to ask for help courting her?" Kyungnyeon's eyes betrayed the sing-song in her voice, and she definitely looks like she wants to cry. Or that she just had really huge eyes, like portals to another dimension.
Junmyeon's eyes widened as he sputtered, "No no no no that's not what I meant! Gosh I don't even like Sehuna that way she's just like a little sister to me!" He pauses, adding quietly, "I thought you only ask people out, when, you know, you like them. In that way."
Kyungnyeon looks at him, visibly pleased with what she heard. "Then great, because I like you too and I want to be your girlfriend so Sehuna can stop slithering all over you. What is up with that, actually?"
Junmyeon laughs loudly, "So are you saying we're a couple now and this is our first date?"
"If you want it to be." Kyungnyeon winks at him. Twice. Girl can wink with both eyes. Can she get any more perfect?
This cannot be happening, Junmyeon thinks as he gapes at the younger girl. Kyungnyeon is the girl of his dreams, and just like that, they’re together. Maybe this was a bet. Maybe her friends are waiting at the next block, waiting for Kyungnyeon to regale them with stories of how Junmyeon was a pathetic fool for even thinking he had a chance----
“Hey, Earth to Kim Junmyeon, were you even paying attention to me?” Kyungnyeon waves a hand in front of Junmyeon’s face to catch his attention.
“Oh, sorry, I was thinking of pinching myself just to see if I was dreaming or not.”
“You really are an old soul. I think that’s cute. Are you going to take me home because that’s what your folks taught you to do on a date?” Kyungnyeon’s tone is teasing, and Junmyeon feels his ears turn bright red.
“I---I’m not an old soul! I’m just really gentlemanly, is all.” Junmyeon mentally slaps himself because that sounded really pathetic, if not douchey, even by his standards.
“Whatever you say, grandpa. As long as you’re now mine.” Kyungnyeon tugs Junmyeon’s arm and links it with hers as they leave the ice cream shop. Junmyeon was about to protest but Kyungnyeon suddenly turned her head and now they’re merely centimeters aways from locking lips along a busy street.
Heart beating fast, Junmyeon moves closer to kiss Kyungnyeon when he feels something cold drop lightly on his nose. Junmyeon pauses to look at it, until he realizes it was a snowflake.
“It’s snowing! It’s the first snow this year!” Kyungnyeon shrieks gleefully. “Do you know what this means?”
“It means we’ll be together forever.” Junmyeon smiles at Kyungnyeon and holds her hand. “I’d like that very much.”
